Senior Lawn
By Ysa Matson
The Senior Lawn Committee is excited to propose the creation of a senior lawn, which will serve as a designated area for seniors to gather and socialize throughout the school day and after school. Many schools, including Otay Ranch, Hilltop High, and Bonita Vista, have established similar senior lawns, which have become integral to their school culture and tradition. We have formed the Senior Lawn Class of 2025 club to achieve this goal, which meets every Monday during lunch in Mr Collins' room, 701. The club's primary objective is to promote the senior lawn through various activities, such as fundraising, awareness campaigns, and more.
The proposed senior lawn will occupy a spacious grass area in front of the art buildings and will be designed to reflect our school's unique culture and identity. We invite all senior students to join our club and be part of this exciting initiative that will leave a lasting legacy for future generations of students. The designated area is exclusively reserved for seniors, except for invited students accompanied by a senior friend or sibling. This rule ensures a tranquil environment tailored to seniors' needs while fostering intergenerational bonds when warranted. However, the privilege is contingent upon seniors' responsibility in maintaining the space—keeping their lawns tidy and the surroundings clean. Failure to uphold these standards may result in the loss of this cherished privilege.
Beyond serving as a serene sanctuary, the area doubles as a multifunctional venue for senior-centric endeavors. It serves as a hub for disseminating crucial information, organizing fundraising events, and orchestrating engaging activities tailored to seniors' interests, such as barbecues, picnics, and outdoor movie screenings. This dynamic space fosters community and camaraderie among seniors, enriching their golden years with memorable experiences and meaningful interactions. Join us as we embark on this exciting journey to create a senior lawn that will become an integral part of our school's culture and tradition for years.
