Giant Robotics Tournament at Olympian this Saturday

Free admission to the gigantic Robotics Tournament on November 6th.
By Alicia Gan

Olympian High School will host its first-ever VEX Robotics Tournament this Saturday, Nov 6th, from 10:30 PM to 4:00 PM in the school gym. 33 robotics teams will attend the tournament, including four from our school. Teams drive from as far as La Verne, LA to compete at this event. Admission to audience members is free and open to everyone.

This gigantic tournament will give out 3 state qualifications and more than 10 awards in various categories. This is the first in-person Robotics Tournament in the district since distance learning. So far, it is the biggest robotics event in the district of this school year.

At VEX tournaments, students face off with robots built and coded from scratch. From big to small, bulky to compact, each robot has a unique design that is only apparent when they unfold to snatch goals in the 12-foot wide, sheet-metal-and-polycarbonate-guarded field.

Want to see them in action? Come watch the robots fight! Admission is free to everyone and you can always leave if it isn’t your tank of gas. The robotics club will also be selling drinks and meals, so bring cash to support our teams!

Here is a simplified version of the robotics point system to help you make sense of the matches.
