As Hispanic Heritage has come around the corner from September 15- to October 15, we celebrate & recognize the extensive histories of the American Latino community including the anniversary of the Independence of Latin Countries; such as Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, & Nicaragua.
Fun Act: It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988. Which makes it 35 years old this year.

Isabella Springmühl Tejada
- The first Guatemalan designer with down syndrome, under her brand Xjabelle, she fabricates sustainable layout using Guatemalan color fabrics; She became one of the country’s most recognized designers at just 26 years old.
Francesca Miranda
- Salvadoran Designer- designs & work in Colmbia, Her handcrafted practices has been aspired by Latin-America’s intricate & lavish artisanship. The designer combines both traditional with her own technique– by elevating the originality of her clothing through history & culture, the brand actively supports these communities.
Shantall Lacayo
- A Nicaragua-born designer, who lives in Miami, She was taught to sew when she was 4 years old by her grandmother then at 13, she began her business at school. She began to sell colorful & textures on social media, in 2020, she participated in the Latin Version of Project Runway, and walks away with $250,000 prize & mentorship.
Oscar Ruiz Schmidt
- Born in the Northern province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica whose under the label Obra Gris. His designing involves around Zero Waste & continues research in garment construction & material innovation
