Ever since the Super Mario Bros Movie came out on April 5th, the song ‘Peaches’ created by Jack Black has gained popularity. As of right now, the movie has gained over 1 billion views. With everyone watching, the song ‘Peaches’ has steadily been rising up the ranks, becoming a hit on iTunes. To bolster its popularity even more, Jack Black has made a music video on youtube of him singing the song. In the video he wears a bowser inspired outfit while playing the piano and dancing. This cheeky little video has about 28 million views on it. Furthermore, the song has been recently announced eligible for an oscar. ‘Peaches’ can be nominated for best original song consideration at the Oscars, says Universal Studios. It is quite possible that this song could potentially be nominated since it has been reaching popularity. Not only that, but with Jack Black’s previous musical history, it is without a doubt that ‘Peaches’ is almost a lyrical masterpiece. I say “almost” because some may beg to differ and because the lyrics are mainly a joke within the movie. But overall, the song is very engrossing and fun. Many people have the lyrics “Peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches-” stuck in their heads because it's just that captivating. I even find myself sometimes whispering the chorus because I can’t get it out of my head. In the end, what the Super Mario Bros Movie has done with its music and cinematography goes beyond most people’s expectations. Jack Black’s song ‘Peaches’ definitely deserves the recognition it is getting. I will say though, the plot of the movie was a bit fast-paced, but I still enjoyed it.
