Tips for DIstance learning

Ever since COVID-19 in March, students and schools all around have needed to implement distance learning for safety reasons. Distance learning has been a big adjustment in student’s lives and has been very difficult at times. Since our schooling is now done at home it's been harder for us to stay focused, motivated, and it has been difficult for students to separate their personal time for relaxation with their stressful work. There are a few different things we can all be doing to help ourselves as we continue distance learning.
A big tip for students is to actually give themselves time to wake up before the start of a class. We are used to having to wake up, get ready, and travel to school, but now that isn’t needed. However, it is important that we give ourselves time to truly be awake for our classes so we can intake all the information that is being taught. Another tip that relates to the first one is to get out of bed before logging onto our classes. Staying in bed will cause you to get sleepy during your lesson and will completely distract you. Getting out of your bed to do work will be so helpful in staying focused on the lessons being taught or school work that needs to be turned in. |
In order to stay motivated, we need to tell ourselves that our grades and attendance are just as important as from when we were in actual school. Just because our schooling is now online doesn’t mean that we can miss our classes and not turn in the assignments. Our attendance is still accounted for and grades will drop if assignments are not completed.
Lastly a major tip in order to create a boundary between school and personal time is to try and find a designated place to do your distance learning. Whether it's in your kitchen, living room, or spare office, you should find a place other than your bedroom to do your schooling. This creates a boundary between stressful work that needs to be completed and a place where you go to relax and recharge. |
