I Am America Too
By Kael-El Avila
I am America too, a piece of it at least.
Not by blood, yet by birth I am so. Some people argue this though - And I try to ignore their feasts. Feasts of insults, hitting harder than a bus. They might say, "Illegal," "Narco," "Trash," Thinking I will hide behind my Mexican flag, But I stand in front, tall and proud. Because I know where those words come from - The power of projection. Thinking that just because they feel insecurity - They can hurt people like me and ignore their own maturity You may be a piece of America, but I am too. I - Am - America. |
