KIWIN’S: What’s this club all about?
By: Maxine DeLeon
Numerous clubs are established within Olympian High School, each one with a different purpose in mind. Some focus on hobbies and interests, while others value advancement and competition. For KIWIN’S Club, a student-led organization, their emphasis is on service.
The club provides its members with the following opportunities: participation in community service, development of leadership skills, and community improvement through fundraising and a variety of projects. Over the years, the club has managed to raise a remarkable amount of more than $700, which they donated to charities that aim to help children better their quality of life by providing basic necessities and education on significant societal issues. Examples of the charities KIWIN’S have partnered up with are the Pediatric Trauma Program, Live to Learn, and UNICEF. Throughout the school year, the club has been involved in more than fifteen service projects, ranging from school to district level. These projects include sending letters to healthcare workers, Math for UNICEF, Ecosia Search Engine, Trick or Treat for UNICEF, ASL Video for the Yemen Crisis, Free Rice Service Event, and much more. Even after all these activities, KIWIN’S will continue to provide biweekly service events for members to participate in and hold fundraisers people can donate to. Hence, the club hopes to gather more members to join their organization and partake in contributing to aiding great causes. |
Are you looking to advance your leadership skills? Or simply interested in having a deeper connection with the community around you? Then KIWIN’S Club is a good place to start.
