Prom - A City of Stars
By Keira Llanes
One high heel in the door. Warm fairy lights strung across the trees. I walked in. Starlights shone in one corner, with people playing Guitar Hero and Minecraft up above the stars. It was accurately set to the theme — a City of Stars. I gathered my belongings, letting the teacher chaperones protect my long black overcoat. The other corner? A mixologist preparing a row of Shirley Temples. Across from the mixologist were gamblers and stacks of poker chips. On my way to the gaming center was a photo booth, with people huddling together to capture the moment. At the very center of the venue were shuffling feet, moving to the beat of the rhythm. For this year’s Prom, Venue 808 was a dreamy, farmhouse-chic setting for dancing and playing games. There was truly something for everyone. If you did not like to dance, you could play games. Those who wanted to appease their sweet tooth could indulge in a snack bar filled with cookies and candy. Parched? Go to the mixologist station. Or, if you loved to dance, the dance floor was open to everyone. Later on in the night was the crowning of our Prom King and Queen. Set like a movie scene, Martin Costa and Luisa Mojica were announced Prom King and Queen, who led a graceful dance to Mia and Sebastian’s Theme. Overall, this year’s prom was truly such a special moment for many of us Eagles.
